The Warrior: Part 2

Introduction to Our Industrious, Hard-Working Warrior

“Work is man’s greatest function.

He is nothing, he can do nothing, achieve nothing without working.”

J M Cowan

In the past, the Warrior archetype was often a soldier. These days, not many men work as soldiers, and for most, the Warrior is the worker. Your Warrior gets you to work day after day and seeks to build your profitable, successful career.

Much of your self-esteem depends on your Warrior. Your Warrior seeks to engage with the world and come out victorious. Each time your Warrior accomplishes a successful action, he builds your self-identity as competent and capable. He builds strength and self-definition through his effort and his struggle.

Your King and your Warrior both hold your self-esteem, but in different ways. Your King looks to your whole life and compares the success of your life against your vision for yourself. Your Warrior’s self-esteem is on the line with every individual action and effort you make. Each time you step forward to try and achieve, you test your Warrior self. If you achieve your aim, you raise your self-esteem. Every individual success increases your Warrior belief that you are successful and capable.

Many people call our Warrior self-esteem our ego, and feel that we shouldn’t have an ego, or that our ego is too big or too much. Yet if we were to get rid of our ego, we would get rid of our Warrior, and have no strong, solid platform of ourselves with which we could engage with the world.

“Self-esteem is not a luxury; it is a profound spiritual need.”
Nathaniel Branden
