The Warrior: Part 8

The Deflated Warrior

"A person is in hell who has lost his self-esteem."

Robert Schuller

As this Warrior archetype holds the ground of our self-esteem, it is essential to how we feel about ourselves. When people talk about their ego, they are talking about this character in us. To be effective and happy with who we are, we need to have a healthy, developed Warrior who has solid self-esteem.

“I have led a toothless life. I have never bitten into anything. I was waiting. I was reserving myself for later on-and I have just noticed that my teeth have gone.”

Jean-Paul Sartre

Living in Deflated Warrior, therefore, is difficult and painful. Here we so deeply question ourselves and our capabilities, and believe that the world is doing the same. Every mistake and setback confirms our fears that we cannot perform and will never make a success of ourselves.

“Luck always seems like it belongs to someone else.”
David Levien

Without a stable sense of ourselves, without a grounded ego, we don’t feel solid and real. We get a sense that we don't really exist, so we can question our very right to life, whether we are deserving of being alive. This undermines our sense of being, and has a wide range of consequences.

So, what should you do with this part of yourself?

If you would like to find out, come and join us on our next Zoom workshop session at 7pm on Tuesday 3rd November.
