The Warrior: Part 7

Losing our Gentleness

So many of the gentler aspects of our nature are lost to us when we habitually live in our Excessive Warrior. This is not a feeling place, except for anger, and our anger here is hard and can be punishing, both of ourselves and others.

Coming out of survival, our Inflated Warrior is protecting us from lack, threat and loss. We needed him as a child, struggling to thrive under threat or abuse, and his anger gave us enough strength to get through that time.

We have a much gentler side of ourselves hidden beneath our Inflated Warrior: the part our Warrior is protecting, our Lover, who we hid as a boy. Children, free, gentle and full of feeling, get hurt, harden and close. Their loving, expressive and feminine side goes undercover, and our angry Warrior steps forward to protect us.

So we grow up and continue in this habitual way through adult life, keeping our Lover hidden and protected from hurt. But to feel is life itself; to love fully is life; to feel sad is life. However, in our Inflated Warrior, we skim over life, not fully letting it in, not fully feeling it, and miss a magical, loving, creative and relating side of ourselves that is so rich, full of life itself. We, and all those around us, lose so much in this process.

So, how do we reduce the influence of this part so that other beautiful aspects of our being can come back to life?

If you would like to find out, come and join us on our next Zoom workshop session at 7pm on Tuesday 6th October.
